Artem Dudushko, 13 years old
Artem is from the Donetsk region and is currently undergoing treatment in Kyiv. He is in the hospital with his grandmother, since his mom is with his little sister and his dad is in the military. He really loves cars and dreams of taking a ride in one of the latest BMW models. Although the boy thinks he isn’t “very good” at drawing, he clearly understands that he finds strength and an outlet in it.
Artem Dudushko is 12 years old and comes from the Donetsk region. From the moment you meet him, it’s clear that he’s a boy with strong leadership qualities: attentive, outgoing, open to others, and always ready to support those around him, even when things are tough for him. Artem is currently undergoing treatment in Kyiv for Ewing’s sarcoma. He is in the hospital with his grandmother, who has been by his side the whole time and is a great source of support for him. Artem’s mom is at home with his little sister, and his dad is serving in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. His family is his main source of strength, and he deeply values every connection with them. More than anything, Artem dreams of returning home—to Dobropillia, which, unfortunately, is now very close to the front lines. He often thinks about his hometown, talking about the streets, familiar places, walks, and the simple happy moments of childhood that are especially precious to him now. Before his illness, Artem loved going to school, had many friends, and was very active in socializing with them. He has maintained these friendships to this day—he stays in touch, feels supported by his friends, and even during treatment remains part of his usual social circle. At the hospital, Artem doesn’t like staying in his room—it’s important for him to be among people, interact, and participate in everything that’s happening. He often supports new children, helps them adjust, encourages them, and creates a sense of confidence and calm around him. This is where his natural leadership really shines through. Computers and video games hold a special place in his life. Thanks to his outgoing nature, Artem has many online friends who support him during his treatment, chat with him, and help him take his mind off difficult moments. His story is about a boy who remains a leader even within the hospital walls. It is the story of a child who clings to friendship, family, and the dream of returning home, and who proves every day that strength of character can shine through even in the most difficult times.
