Sasha Kozar, 13 years old
Sashko is very active and creative; he always looks forward to attending all the workshops held at the hospital. He’s full of life and always has a smile for everyone. He dreams of getting a scooter and going on vacation with his family.
Sashko Kozar is 13 years old. He is a responsible and mature young man beyond his years, who impresses with his composure and inner strength. Even during the difficult period of treatment, he remains composed, persistent, and very determined. Before his illness, Sashko led an active and fulfilling life: he played sports, went for long walks, studied, explored new things, and lived the typical daily routine of a teenager. He was always energetic and used to being on the go, so staying active and constantly moving forward were especially important parts of his life. School always held a special place for him. Sashko takes his studies very seriously and doesn’t miss a class even while in the hospital. In his free time, he continues to study, catch up on the school curriculum, and refuses to let his treatment slow his progress. His perseverance and discipline are truly impressive. Right now, Sasha is undergoing rehabilitation following surgery. It’s a difficult journey that requires a lot of patience, endurance, and daily effort. Despite the pain and fatigue, he diligently performs all the necessary exercises, works on his recovery, and does everything possible to regain his mobility and usual level of activity as quickly as possible. Sashko doesn’t complain, he doesn’t give up, and step by step he’s confidently moving toward recovery. In his free time, he loves playing Uno—and he’s a real champion at it. It’s one of those little joys that help him take his mind off things, smile, and feel like just a kid, not a patient. His story is one of strength of character, responsibility, and quiet determination in the fight for his health. It’s the story of a young man who proves every day that true strength isn’t just about enduring a difficult journey, but also about never losing faith in returning home, to his family, and to his familiar, happy life.
