Margarita is 14 years old.
I love music, dancing, and playing sports. I’m sick right now, but I have complete faith in the future. I have one dream—to go home. I believe it will all work out. I’m grateful for my good health.
I never in my life could have imagined that fate would throw such trials at our family. We’re from the Donetsk region, where the war is raging. On November 10, we evacuated to the city of Chernivtsi, and on November 12, we found out that my little daughter, Margaritka, has cancer. We were referred for treatment in Kyiv. Margaritka has undergone 9 rounds of chemotherapy and 24 radiation treatments here, and is currently on maintenance chemotherapy. She has been through a difficult journey: there were tears, depression, leaving her home—everything where she spent her childhood—and at the same time, the terrible news of her illness. But when my daughter looks at me, she doesn’t let me cry. She says, “I’m healthy, I’m alive, and I’m going to live.” Margarita’s dream is to be an actress and return home. She always says, “I’m a star, and there’s a way out of any situation.” She inspires with her strength, faith, and sincere smile. Dreams come true when you believe strongly enough.
